Police arrested a disgruntled Long Beach Marriott cook this week after he allegedly relayed to a coworker his plans to shoot coworkers and hotel guests, according to reports. Authorities also uncovered a stockpile of firearms, ammunition and tactical gear at 37-year-old Rodolfo Montoya’s Huntington Beach home, police said.
Montoya had “clear plans, intent and the means to carry out an act of violence that may have resulted in a mass casualty incident,” Long Beach police chief Robert Luna said, and the concerned coworker’s tip may have saved lives.
“We’ve seen countless of acts of senseless violence throughout the country in the last several months,” he said. “We want to remind everyone that if you see, hear or read about any threats or suspicious activity, I believe that it is your obligation to report that to the police.”
Workplace gun violence in America, of course, is not always thwarted…
